Unemployed dad and Asterix and Obelix

  1. ASTERIX! Good times, good times… used to -love- the shows as a child! =)

  2. That’s so cool! The last time I brought up Asterix I got six blank stares and one true believer, who like me, grew up in a small town and read a lot of Asterix comics at the library because there was nothing else to do. Actually, they were worse than blank stares.

I sat on this cartoon for close to two weeks, but Asterix came up in the news recently as the artist sold the rights to a major corporation, prompting his daughter to call him a sell out. Apparently included in the buying companies portfolio are some less than “societally friendly” commodities. Or, she shares the same view as Julius Caesar “The Gauls aren’t in it for the money, if they were they would have sold the magic potion long ago”, is what one article read.

  3. Your such a convenient source of Asterix wisdom lol! Your comic inspired me to start downloading their old episodes… shhh!

(PS. I’m pretty sure its for the money… at least partially)

  4. No worries about your secret, I think only about seven people read this blog.

I think you’re right about the money, but the concern might be commercial measures like Getafix brand surgical tubing, Obelix whey protein, Asterix mustache wax, and animated tie-ins like “Asterix and the Harlem Globetrotters Haunted Christmas” specials that might tarnish the legacy a bit.

  5. Great stuff. Fond memories of all the Asterix books from when I was a kid. (The Soothsayer!!Mansions of the Gods!) It was neat for me to get my son reading them now.
